Potty training

Hi, I have been recommended this website by my HV. https://eric.org.uk/potty-training/ She said it's recommended to start now. My LO loves to come to the toilet with me and flush 😳 I bought him a potty which also has the flush sound and he loves to play with it. That's what we are at right at this point.

I introduced a potty with my LG when she was around 6m, she will usually go to it now when she needs a wee but she can’t quite sit herself on it yet so I do it for her. I say well done and we go wave bye bye to it down the toilet and she is so proud of herself🫶🏼I sit her on it everytime she starts having a poo which is a lifesaver now there’s no more dirty nappies🙈 and we have nappy off most the time we are home as well now. Just start sitting them on it for short stints throughout the day and read a book or play with them while they sit on there, and give them plenty of praise when they do it! The rest will come with time x

I put my little one on it first thing in the morning and before her bedtime bath. Only been doing it for a few weeks but it didn't take her long to get the hang of it. We give her praise even if there is no wee or poo

We also started elimination communication or baby pottying around 6 months (some define anything until 18m as EC). Look at https://www.bornready.uk/ and https://godiaperfree.com/elimination-communication/ Go Diaper Free book and FB group are great resources. I would start with easy catches, like after waking up. We take a "lazy" approach, I only put LO on potty / seat reducer when she goes to it and/or at (most) nappy changes, and only at home. As above, keep it fun and relaxed, we look at books or play with bathroom-only toys. Nursery also (successfully!) potties her at nappy changes at my request.
