Second pregnancy/birth experience

Can anyone share their experiences with 2nd pregnancy/birth after having preeclampsia the first time. I had pretty severe high blood pressure which meant I had to stay in for a while after giving birth too, I’m really nervous about what this could mean if I was to have another baby as they couldn’t control it and I left on 5 tablets a day to try keep it down.

I had severe preeclampsia with my first, had to deliver at 29 weeks and been on BP meds ever sense 3.5 years ago. I had my twins in June and I had no signs of preeclampsia whatsoever. I was on BP meds the whole pregnancy, took baby aspirin 12 weeks and onward, and watched everything I ate/drank.

@Leilani okay thank you! Great to hear 🙌🏼

Unfortunately I'm the opposite to Leilani! I had moderate pre-eclampsia with my 1st. Delivered emergency c section at 36 weeks. He weighed 2.2kgs. 2nd time around I started bp meds as soon as I found out I was pregnant, was healthy, on aspirin and was under the high risk obgyn's. At 28 weeks i ended up in hospital, with HELLP syndrome and delivered my baby at 31 weeks as there was reverse flow through the cord. I've also ended up in "heart failure" (my cardiologist explained it as my heart was working too hard for too long and it just needs a little break now) But... Just because it happened to me doesn't mean it will happen to you. But it is worth being aware it can happen and taking the necessary actions. I wouldn't change a thing as I got my beautiful boy from it

@Sarah wow that’s so scary, sorry to hear you went through that! How’re you doing now? I didn’t know you could get HELLP before giving birth, I thought it was just after/during!

No unfortunately I got it while pregnant and babies both came out emergency sections! I'm good now! Blood pressure is fantastic, liver is going back to normal and my heart is looking great. Monash looked after me so well I felt so supported and cared through the whole journey !
