Son not eating

I’m stressed, my son has been a ‘fussy’ eater for well over a year (despite eating everything when he was younger), nursery have been substituting his meals with an alternative (toast or crackers) & are saying soon they’ll need to stop this as it’s making the other children want that food too. It’s possible he’s come to expect these subs & we’re thinking of asking them not to sub at all - he’ll generally eat his dinner when he gets home so won’t starve & does eat the snacks at nursery. I feel if I call the HV/doctor they’ll say just feed him what he’ll eat which we do at home of course. But nursery are making us feel like we’re don’t something wrong & it’s our fault. Does anybody have any advice please!

Hey i don’t have particularly any experience , this may sound so silly ( on my behalf ) but I’m assuming you mean pack lunch ? If that’s the case can you not just pack him crackers in his lunch box ? I’m sorry if I sound so silly 🙈 xx

@Kelly-Louise sorry I meant to say no they’re not allowed to take packed lunch so it’s just what nursery provide! Don’t be silly I wasn’t clear haha & thank you x

@Sophie atleast I’ve clarified for the good response 😉😂 Hope you get it sorted! 🥰 x

If they won’t allow packed lunch, that puts so much unnecessary pressure on you! I have a picky eater and she’s started nursery a month ago. So far the only thing they’ve offered, which she’s eaten is ice cream..none of the savoury food. But we do send a packed lunch in, so if she won’t eat the food they provide, she’ll still eat. I would talk to the nursery again and see if they can have more flexibility around this. You can’t be the only one with a picker eater!

Look up solid starts for tips to encourage picky eaters to eat 😊

@Harri thank you! Glad to hear we’re not the only ones. It sure does! It’s so good you can send a packed lunch. Good idea! I know they talk as if he’s the only one in the place
