At my wits end !

Tonight I literally felt like getting up from the dinner table and just walking out, my little boy is just not great with food at all, he will eat anything sweet and completely loves fruit , he will almost eat any fruit I give him but he can’t live of bloody fruit !! He used to eat a roast dinner which I done yesterday and he refused, tonight spag bowl he refused, I’ve done him omelette in the week which he didn’t touch, I feel like it’s getting worse !! He did have a bad viral infection last week but this fussiness has been going on longer than that. Anyone else struggling with mealtime ? Also To add he won’t eat any cereal for breakfast won’t eat toast won’t even eat pancakes, he would just literally have a bowl of fruit and a bottle of milk before nap! Nutrition wise he deffo isn’t getting enough

Maybe he is teething?

Take him to GP, if anything just to reassure you that he’s fine. I think they’re just fussy at this age. My son eats well but recently been so bad and stressing me out and yesterday evening I saw a tooth at the back of his mouth. Maybe he’s teething too and that’s why.. but just for peace of mind go to the gp I think xxx

I would say teething my little lad is normally such a good eater and sleeper but he has a back molar coming through and has gone of both completely to get him to sleep I have to cuddle with him on the settee and usually he just takes him self to bed. It will get easier. Just remember when things get too much. Leave him in a safe space, remove your self from the situation to recollect your self and then return and try again.

Do you serve the fruit with the savoury food? I tried that with my little one and it did seem to encourage her to have a bit of savoury x

I have a may 22 and May 23 baby. My May 23 baby is a great eater and I have no issues with him. My May 22 boy……..this picky stage has been going on forever. He was amazing when I weaned him and I mean he ate everything. Now it’s only beige food. I can get the odd fruit in him as a purée with porridge. He has an ellas kitchen smoothie pouch everyday as it classes as one of his 5 a day. No vegetables at all. Only carbs and cheese 😂 boy has got a sweet tooth though! I got some multi vitamin drops off Amazon that he has everyday too. As he’s a bit older I know what he will and will not like. Sometimes if he doesn’t eat his dinner (even though I know he likes it) he doesn’t get anything else and I’ve found he’s just not hungry some days. He’ll tell me if he is (speech delay but very clear on food 😂) I know it’s a slightly different situation to yours, but you aren’t alone. Despite how frustrating it is x

This is the same for me, my May 23 baby is a terrible eater. I feel he lives on fruit, fish fingers, breadsticks etc.. his dad and I are not fussy eaters so I completely understand it being frustrating as it always seems like such a waste of food! I’m hoping it’s a phase but it has been like this a while 😫🙄 xx

@Imaan he had about 5 teeth cutting at the same time all his back ones but they have all cut now, he was less fussier when they were cutting !! He did go to the drs last week for his viral infection if it carries on I will have to take him again x

@Sophie I do indeed, he still won’t touch the savoury food, just throws it off his high chair and eat the fruit 🤦🏻‍♀️ x

@Holly it really is so frustrating ! Hopefully they grow out of it as they get older, my daughter is extremely fussy, she’s 7 so I am used to fussy eaters I was just hoping my boy would be different with food x

@Liv we are not fussy either (his sister is extremely fussy) I’ve offered him everything we have he just doesn’t seem to want any of it, as I say he would eat cheese omelette but even that he won’t touch !! he will happily sit there and eat a whole bowl of fruit and some wotsits I was worry he had no appetite but he wouldn’t want anything in that care surely ? It does feel like a waste of food ! I really hope they grow out of it ! Xx

I have definitely noticed that when my son is teething he won’t really eat meals. Only snacking x

Could have written this myself. It helps to know it’s not just my son.

We are also in the same boat! Hope it’s just a phase

@Lauren hopefully they grow out of it, but until then I guess we carry on making all sorts of meals 🙈 xx

@Corinne I really hope it’s just a phase and they grow out of it 😅 x

My boy went through same phase but now he is back to his old self we did let him eat whatever he wanted as I thought at least he is eating something better than nothing and we kept offering other foods too but didn’t force him to eat it just always put it on his plate or we sit together and we put on our plate and he was kinda interested what we are eating so he took the food from us 😅 worth a try just to check him with gp but my advice it’s to be patient and hopefully he will be back to normal soon.
