LB will only eat chicken nuggets and chips for dinner…

Need some advice as I’m at my wits end… my lb will only eat chicken nuggets and chips. He used to be such an amazing eater, then one week he suddenly went off of everything. He used to love pasta bakes, then the following week he wouldn’t touch it? He went a whole week without eating dinner so I gave in and made chicken nuggets at the end of the week and he finally ate something. I don’t want to just give in every night and make frozen food but it’s getting to the point he would rather not eat anything other than that. Even at lunch and breakfast, he barely eats anything other than some fruit and occasionally some toast. There was a couple months where we unfortunately wasn’t able to afford fresh ingredients and had to order Iceland frozen food for the month🤦‍♀️ but he was eating home cooked meals afterwards then something clicked in his head where this picky phase started. Help 😓

Hey don't beat yourself up about it. It sounds like a phase. Do you eat meals with your toddler? I find mine eats what I eat as wants to copy / loves eating food from my plate so maybe try they if you're not already. Also if you can cook with your toddler, so they can see, feel and play with the ingredients. For example make a stir fry and chop up the veg together. Mine will eat the raw veg as we are doing it and thinks it great ... Obviously that's less for meal times but a good snack. I also encourage mine to help with the supermarket shop and he is more enthusiastic about the food. Failing that if you flag to your health visitor, there is a service there NHS offer on this. 😃 Best of luck 🤞

I agree with Rosie. Have you tried making yourself a plate of the same food? My daughter was refusing dinner one night but as soon as I sat with her with a plate of my own she wanted some of mine. She basically ended up eating her dinner off my plate as when she was distracted I moved some of her onto my plate, then she would take it and have it. By the end of the meal she'd eaten all her potatoes plus some of mine, and more veg than I'd originally given her. The meat not so much, but she's always a bit hit or miss with meat, so I don't mind her leaving. Same thing with pasta and garlic bread, she wasn't eating, but wanted mine. She eventually got down from her seat and came sat on my lap to eat my dinner. Sometimes though she genuinely just doesn't want to eat, So I don't force her. I just prepare myself for her to wake up in the night wanting a snack.

Thank you for your advice ladies x I always offer him the same meal as me and eat it with him, ive tried just using my plate but he will just try to feed me rather than trying it himself 🤦‍♀️. He did have a couple bites of his pasta the other nights then gave up, I took that as a win though. I’m ready to contact my health visitor or gp, really worried he has an eating disorder. I just don’t understand why everything changed, he was the most amazing eater before, would eat absolutely anything!
