Baby hates the taste of Nutramigen

My 11 week old baby was just prescribed Nutramigen and today had his first bottle but wouldn’t even drink half an oz! He cries the moment he tastes it.. what can I do to enhance the taste? Any help please!

You can try adding alcohol free vanilla drops and gradually decrease them Or if symptoms weren't unbearable I'd try mixing with old formula but will take longer for nutramigen to work so I'd try vanilla drops first

If it tastes even half as bad as it smells I don’t blame him haha Vanilla or some people use like krusha or similar to disguise the taste x

@Emma-louise & @Amy thank you! Is it just one drop in a bottle regardless of the total amount of milk in it? I also heard horror stories about reflux as a common side effect of these non-dairy formulas.. did you experience that at all?

@Diana I didn’t have to do it but it’s basically enough to disguise the taste and then decrease it as time goes on so yeah I’d try with one drop As for reflux yes it does trigger it as it’s thinner than normal milk - my little girl was a ‘happy spitter’ in the end we’d tried loads of things to get it under control it didn’t help

@Diana I think people usually start with a few drops and gradually go down to 1 drop Unfortunately yes we had awful reflux after starting allergy milks and ended up in gaviscon and then movicol as gaviscon causes constipation 🙈

Sounds silly bit wait until they are verrrry hungry for the next bottle, they tend to down it and helps th get used to the taste (worked for us). We didn't have to add anything to the bottle

We mixed ours gradually as he refused it to start with too. Then over the course of a few days we got him onto straight nutramigen. Have you ever tried it?! It is so gross 🤢🫠. Poor babies! But does help their tummies. Good luck x

All prescription formula is so nasty, I almost feel guilty feeding it to my baby 😄
