Post partum cramps

Hello! We welcomed our son on the 1st of October and I’ve been breast feeding/expressing primarily with just a little top up of formula here and there… but I am suffering terribly with horrendous cramping if I express for more than say 10 minutes or if my baby latches on for long periods - it’s absolutely agonising to the point where I feel sick/am sweating/cry/have to lie on my back. Obviously aware that the cramping is a good thing as such because my uterus is shrinking and that when I breastfeed/express it releases the hormones to make it contract but I’m day 6 postpartum and feel like it’s actually getting worse. Is it just me? Is there any advice for when the wave of cramps start? 2 ibrofen is what I’ve been taking but obviously it takes a bit of time for that to kick in and I’m not sure if that is what helps eventually ease them or if it is just the time passed. Cramps last between 20-30/40 minutes. Grateful for any advice! X

I remember this, so painful I actually thought I was going to pass out one night. I don’t remember it lasting much longer than 10 days. Hopefully eases off soon, and congrats.

I remember being in tears because of it. Try having a hot water bottle or the microwaveable equivalent relieves it slightly

Remember to use belly wrap! It's not just for pregnancy but sooo helpful and border line essential for postpartum 🫶🏽 Not just for those horrid period like cramps but it trully helps the uterus to shrink and also helps abdominal muscles separation Xx

These comments helped me so much. Even just knowing they’re normal pains. Touchwood they’ve eased off a lot today so hoping they’ll be gone very soon! Thanks all xxxx
