Weaning

Anyone else’s baby just not interested in food? She is 6.5 months old and we started weaning a few weeks ago, when she turned six months. Have tried a combination of purées and finger foods. She picks finger foods up and brings them to her mouth but doesn’t actually take anything into her mouth. Doesn’t open her mouth when trying to spoon feed her either 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same really. I’m taking a break from it. Just assuming she is not ready for it.

@Jubayda I’ve been considering doing the same for a few weeks and trying again

I took a little break and have just started mine (7 months yesterday), on fruit pouches, I don’t bother putting it in a bowl or anything, just squeeze it straight into her mouth and she’s loving it. She has one between her last two bottles. Hoping to start trying to give her breakfast at some point this week x

But I wouldn’t worry about it, they’ll eat when they’re ready x

Maybe take a few days break and return to try again. She might just not be ready yet. Although even her just exploring the textures and having the beginnings of a mealtime routine will probably be beneficial.

My little boy is like this too, he is 7 months, he will occasionally be interested in a spoonful but rarely, he mainly just plays with his food, exploring it as he sits in his chair when we eat too. We went to an infant feeding support and they said it's fine and as long as he's getting enough milk he gets all his nutrients so just continue offering in the day at mealtimes for fun and it will come in time.

We were the same. I just kept offering every day and he's getting more interested but still not that bothered. Although he seems to enjoy our food more than the pouches etc. He loves pie and mash and avocado with a dairylea triangle mixed it. You could maybe try with some of your meals mashed/pureed to save the hassle of preparing something separately?

Thanks for all the advice. Tried her today with a yoghurt from a pouch while she was seated on the couch and she actually accepted some of it. Seemed much more keen than she has before so hopefully she keeps it up 😊
