I got a lot of tips from social media accounts of different doulas, specialists, obs, etc I followed before and during my pregnancy. I found these resources to be a bit more constructive and actionable. Asking friends mostly felt like I was signing myself up for a nightmare by choosing to have a baby 😅 Bless them, but their stories tended to sour my perspective instead of help me prepare myself.

I borrowed a book from the library every 2w as that was the loan period. Got all my info from there. I was well equipped w what I needed to know before birth. Afterwards, for solidarity and community I joined whatever IG pages I needed to- home birthing, sensory pages, breastfeeding, cloth diaper accounts etc.

@Mariah ah yes!!! Friends and family mean well but they love a good horror story!!!

@Kellie there are soooo many great books aren't there! Any particular favourite? X

@Poppy (Pop That Mumma) Up the duff, mindful pregnancy, mindful birth, expecting better, a holistic approach to pregnancy, the mama natural, doulas guide to empowering birth. Mindful Hypnobirthing. And for PP- Buddhism for mothers, the first 40 days.

Oh gosh like books, it's too hard to speak to other individuals because of our varied experiences. I had gone through a birth class for labor and delivery at my hospital and then I went to a mommy event and started asking other women there what their births were like and so many were just like "get an epidural, this will be the worst pain in your life" that I just was like, ok, I need to not absorb their trauma and make my own way.

Im pulling from all sources Wasn’t so great last time, any tips would be great and now following more closely
