Umbilical Hernia
Hi, has anyone developed an umbilical hernia during pregnancy? I’m due to have it operated on, but do you think I’m best to wait until after we have a second baby (if we do have another I’m not sure yet) I Wonder what the chances of me getting another hernia are if I do get it operated on…

After my first I developed a hernia in my groin, not sure on the technical name for this. But I had this operated on when he was 1 and half. It was keyhole surgery and I had mesh put in to hold this in place. 6 years and another baby later, all still seems fine x
@Sarah can I ask how you got on with looking after your toddler after the op? I’m in that boat now and really struggling with six weeks of not being able to pick him up 😬
I was separated from his dad so he stayed with his dad for a week which was a huge help. He was already in a bed as he used to climb out of the cot which was dangerous so it helped not lifting him in and out aswell. It feels like so long ago but I member thinking I would never survive it and I did 😅 x

I’d be asking your consultant, they’ll be able to give you a much more reliable answer than anyone here 😊 Good luck with the surgery if you have it. I’ve just had a femoral hernia repaired which I suspect developed as a result of pregnancy, childbirth, or lifting my little boy. The physical costs of motherhood are high!
