Baby back to back?

Almost 35 weeks. I’ve been told baby is back to back. Does anyone have this? Or did have in previous pregnancy? If previous pregnancy - did baby turn easily before/ in labour. The NCT site seems to suggest it can lead to a longer labour, more painful and higher chance of assisted delivery/ c section if they are back to back still in labour. I had a grade 3 tear with my 2022 baby so really wanted an easy/ smooth labour this time 😫

So I haven't had this, but my Physiotherapist did with her first and I do have to say that she said it did make for a painful delivery. She said she felt it all in her bum and her back. However with her second baby she did as much as she could to avoid it happening again. I think I recall her saying she spent a lot of the last few weeks on all fours or leaning forward to encourage baby the right way round. I think walking can help with this too. Lots of people recommend Spinning Babies techniques for getting babies in the right position, but no idea how successful this is. The other thing is that baby still has a few weeks to turn. I've heard of some babies getting in the right position literally during labour, so its not a given that baby will stay the position they currently are.

@Catherine thanks for reply! Yes midwife said about birthing ball etc but it doesn’t seem like there is much evidence behind it working or not. But obviously will give anything a go! I think given my tear last time I’m tempted to ask for a c section if she doesn’t move. They’d offered me one anyway because of my tear and due to my previous labour but really wanted to avoid it. But the risk of a really bad tear again seems worse!

My first baby was back to back and I was ended up having a forceps delivery 😢 I’m 35 weeks with baby number 2 and just been told that this one is back to back too! Midwife suggested looking on the spinning babies but essentially said that any leaning forwards will encourage baby to turn, try not to lounge backwards on sofa etc… apparently they can turn right up to/including when in labour! Fingers crossed for you!

@Ellis thanks for the reply! Was just taking a look at the spinning babies stuff. Fingers crossed for you too!

I had multiple scans (maybe 15) and appointments with various professionals with my first in 2022. I was offered induction etc multiple times prior to labour. Not one said back to back. In the middle of delivery I got told baby was back to back. I obviously have nothing to compare to but I had no pain relief, had a 2nd degree tear and baby was out in less than 2 hours after arriving in hospital. Not saying I wasn't in pain, just that sometimes they scare you a lot.

@Vin thanks this is helpful! Yes I think the more I read the more it sounds like a lot to of trying to scare you. Was the same with my 3rd degree tear - lots of appointments to discuss c section this time but actually it’s still very low risk and unnecessary. I’ll see what my consultant says next week - she’s been very sensible about everything throughout pregnancy.

my baby is currently back to back and i’m worried too that she won’t turn and i will end up having a back to back labour , im going to try lots of exercises to try and get baby to move it’s just knowing what exercises to do and what will be beneficial
