Child only wants milk

Hello, I’m seeking recommendations. My son is obsessed with cows milk. We started him on cows milk after he turned 1. Prior to that he was using formula. I desperately wanted to breastfeed him, but I was inexperienced and my milk dried up around 3 months. Anyway, now he’s hooked on milk. He refuses most foods and only wants milk. He’ll accept sweets or chips, but if he doesn’t like a meal he’ll take one taste and have a complete screaming meltdown if he doesn’t get milk. I feel so frustrated over it. I offer him a wide variety of foods. Fruits, veggies. I’ll even give him 3 options on his plate, but he refuses most of the time. Sometimes I think it’s a comfort to him because we stopped breastfeeding so soon and because he also got a new baby sister 8 months ago. I’m just not sure what to do.

Water it down, serve smaller amounts in a sipper cup or cup with a straw only. If he doesn’t eat his food, cover it up and offer it again when he’s hungry later. If you know of stuff he usually will eat include that too, but his development is typical (ie not developmentally delayed, autistic, etc) then you might have to ride out the screaming. My son went through a phase with this as we were giving him too many muffins etc he was demanding that sort of food every meal.

I mix my daughter’s milk 50/50 with water. She also loves milk but she NEVER gets undiluted milk. This way she can’t get full on just milk and since she’s hungry she’ll eat smth else. And she is also super picky about her food, there are only few “real foods” she would eat. I’m sure it’s get better eventually and keep offering whatever I’m eating (she refuses 99.9% of the time).

@Ellen thank you for the suggestion!

I only pour 2 oz of milk and the rest water. Sometimes I just put a few drops at night to make it look white. My daughter cries if its not white

@Samantha haha I’ll try that too. That’s funny cause I also notice my son checking what color his drinks are cause if it clear, sometimes he won’t accept it
