what solid solids are we feeding baby?

my baby loves his food but recently he wants nothing to do with me and his food,, he much rather feed himself which i’m totally cool with. we just started with the tether husks and crackers and of course the puffs but a lot of packaging/on-the-go products say crawling age but my little doesn’t crawl,, is there a reason they say to crawl or do i actually have to wait till he crawls? he’s a butt scooter and does downward dog 🙃 i also started just giving him things off my plate that are softer but again he rather feed himself,, any input and weaning and packaged foods i’m here

I think they say crawling to make sure your child can sit up on their own and are more likely to be able to handle solid foods. I have my daughter on homemade purees, crackers, toast, and fruit teethers:) she loves them too!

As far as the crawling part goes, I’ve read some say crawling because apparently at that stage they’re simultaneously working on developing their jaw strength more while crawling. As far as other foods, you should check out the “Solid Starts” app if you haven’t yet. It has basically every individual food you can think of with serving sizes and suggestions based on age

I have a good recommendation for you. For this stage you can steam different kinds of veggies for him and a good rule of thumb is that if you can easily squish it between your fingertips, than he should be able to eat it just fine. Try some soft avocado, bananas, peaches as well

Avocado, banana, ground meat, toast, raspberries, steamed carrots, zucchini, eggs, mini pancakes, spaghetti cut up in small pieces. My baby is just about 9 months old, doesn’t have teeth and she can eat all of these things. She also eats the teething crackers and things you mentioned. You got this!

@Stephanie yes!! i’ve given him like really good of just things i have on my plate,, he does have two bottom teeth and is able to do the chewing motion and he hates meat with all his being lol

My baby isn’t crawling and I feed her just about anything at this point. Eggs, whole milk yogurt, homemade purée, mashed potatoes, small pieces of breads, fruits, veggies, anything off my plate. She just loves to eat 🤣 I also love the solid starts app! Shows all sorts of foods and how to prepare them based off age and development!!
