Lunch snack ideas

Looking for low sugar ideas for lunch and snacks? I have a kid that’s having issues so I’m going to try and see if I can get lower sugar stuff.

@Kassidi he won’t eat vegetables or pasta. lunch is always peanut butter and jelly with fruit snacks and goldfish crackers.

There are “healthyish” muffin recipes out there if you can squeeze in time to bake. They usually use sugar alternatives like honey, maple syrup and mashed bananas/applesauce as a sugar replacement. And if there’s some whole grains in the muffin and protein that helps the sugar be more gradually absorbed.

Will he eat a hard boiled egg? Also keep offering the veggies, you can just give a small amount if you’re bothered by the food waste. I’ve heard kids can take 30 exposures to a food before they will try it.

I’ve been meaning to try to make a kid burrito for my kid but haven’t managed to yet 😅. but not sure how he would do with rice/beans/cheese.

Does he eat fruit? To me dried fruit isn’t too far off from candy so you could try swapping some out for the gummies.

Some people like zucchini bread to sneak in some veggies. I have a carrot-yogurt muffin that my whole family likes (it also has raisins in it). I offer nuts but a lot of schools have to ban them. Will he eat salami?

Apple sauce pouches are great. Also target has some fruit leather with no added sugar. Cheese sticks. Whole wheat bread for his pbj. Whole grain gold fish. Making 1 small change at a time can help if they are resistant to big changes.
