Follow on milk formula

Why does formula change to “follow on milk” at 6 months? I didn’t even realise and was going to just keep giving my baby the usual “first milk” formula. Now that she is 6 months do I need to change to the next formula?

It is illegal to advertise first milk in the UK so brands created follow on so they could advertise themselves. There is no reason to change. I'm going to continue with the first milk until they are 1 and go to whole milk.

@Charlotte Ahhhright!! That makes sense! Thank you x

what charlotte said! you definitely don’t need to change. the only difference pretty much is slightly higher iron (which fills baby up less) to encourage baby to need more solids to be full. there is no nutritional advantage at all x

Also with follow on milk they are allowed to put them on sale and for instance you can get points at boots etc aswell x

Not changing Sticking with “first” til 12 months

Also stick with first infant milk here too x

Also won’t be changing x

My HV said it's marketing, no need to change x

NHS actually advises you not to change, although if you’re on Kendamil like me - follow on is easier to find 🙄😂 but I’m not switching.

@Amy yeah we are!! Really struggling to find it now and on our last tub! X

I’d rather go with Kendamil follow on milk than change to a different brand personally if I couldn’t find first infant milk. It’s currently in stock on boots & I’ve found (if you have any near you) Tesco express seem to have them in when other stores don’t x

Kendamil First Infant Milk Stage 1 From Birth to 6 Months 800g https://www.boots.com/kendamil-first-infant-milk-stage-1-from-birth-to-6-months-800g-10324743

@Amy that’s what prompted me to do this post 🤣 all I can find is the follow on milk and I didn’t actually realise that it was for 6-12 months! Brill thank you so much!!! X
