Advice

I have a couple of family members who buy my lo stuff that really isn't to my taste. And with Xmas and Jan baby birthday coming up, I'm getting worried about the kind of presents they are going to buy. Has anyone got any advice on how I can try approach this subject in a nice way 🫣

I think it depends on the way it isn't to your taste. Like my MIL kept buying us frilly dresses for our girl which we didn't like, so one day when she was visiting and she complimented a romper she was in, we casually said how much easier we found Rompers than dresses and how much we liked them, she's not bought us another impractical dress since haha. If its just a style thing, maybe just casually mention the things you do like, like put her in an outfit you love, wait for them to mention it, then say Oh thanks! And explain why it's to your taste

I try to make suggestions as to what he needs or what we would like for him and if we get things we dont like etc, i try to exchange them if i know where they are from or i sell them on vinted and say nothing🤣

You could send a message and say you know christmas and birthday are coming up and just letting everyone know baby doesnt need any clothes at all and you would be so grateful for books and bath towels or sleeping bag etc etc whatever you need but obviously say it in a nice light hearted way like ‘oh my goodness this little lady is soo spoilt already her wardrobe is like a clothes shop 😂’

I used to make an Amazon wish list for my eldest with things that she actually needs, until she could make her own Christmas lists. I’ll be doing the same this year, my mums taste in clothes and plastic toys definitely doesn’t match mine 🫠

As above, I was going to suggest making a wish list 😊 could even politely ask people to please stick to it as these are things baby needs or you want for them! There's even lists you can create with links to websites/outfits so it's exactly what you like if anyone did want to get clothes!
