Potty Training

So my daughter is 18 months and I wanted her to start potty training right away. She seems to be scared to go potty and to see if she either pooped, pee or a little of both but she wanted to walk away from her potty chair. It was a difficult to get her to go potty to give it a try. Any advise to get her go to the potty?

I don’t have any advise. I did however look up some research for potty training. Because I wanted to start my son as well. A decent amount of studies show that children who start potty training before 2 tend to not be fully potty trained until 4. Though those who start after 2 tend to be fully potty trained by 3. Something about the brain development and it becomes something they avoid if they start early. Obviously it’s studies. There will be exceptions. I’m not an expert. Just sharing what I read.

My daughter pediatrician said sometimes kids get scared and it seems like they try to hold it, it’s because it’s new to them, she told me when I notice signs of baby trying, to stick them on the toilet or just taking them into the bathroom when their using there diaper so they get into the idea of going into the bathroom.

I started training my son. We’ve used the potty once. He showed a lot of interest in it. And likes sitting on his potty when I’m in there.

So I had friends who tried early on and then it became a disaster so I just have been familiarizing her with the potty. So she asks to sit on it but won’t actually do anything. But I’d say she has a healthy relationship with it so that when she’s ready we can tackle this thing. We bring books to read while on the potty or sing songs together
