LO is unwell so need to call in work

My LO isn't well, she's been sick this evening so I can't send her to nursery tomorrow. As a teacher, am I entitled to paid time off to look after sick child or will it be unpaid? I'm looking on the NEU website but can't seem to find the answers... TIA

I called in sick when my little one had a severe reaction to his jabs and they didn’t pay me for it.

I get three days each academic year which can be used to look after an unwell child. My previous school gave their staff six days so I guess it is entirely up to schools on an individual basis 😕

It depends on the school’s policy. Normally you’d get one day paid. In reality I think a lot of people just call in sick for themselves.

Depends on the school... We get 5 paid days (my husband gets 0, different profession), but they are very funny about it and always expect you to find a different solution 🙄

I ended up catching the sickness bug too so didn't need to sat it was for my LO in the end anyway....thanks for all the replies. Not sure my head would give paid for dependents but will look into it for future bugs 😷🤒

Oh no! Hope you feel better soon!!
