Formula causing constipation ?

Hi my baby is 18 days old, I had a very complicated labour and was stuck in hospital 11 days so he was on Kendamil ready made bottles, as I couldn’t wasn’t able to BF. once we got discharged we put him on kendamil formula, so it’s been a week now, I’m finding he is constipated and in discomfort since 2 days. I spoke to midwife and she said go back to the ready made bottles as that suited him better? Any advice on this? I feel worried switching again and causing further discomfort to baby.

rtf has a laxative in that the powder doesn’t! they shouldn’t be too dissimilar to each other but it’ll be the removal of that which’ll make a difference. My guys always poo’d once a week since birth, and rtf always brings him along

I had this problem with my baby. He would only poo every 4 days and would really struggle. I now use colief in every feed. He poos every day now and is so much more comfortable.

When my daughter was very new we used powder during the day and the ready made at night for ease. I'm pretty sure it helped keep her regular.

Ooo @Naomi I will try this for sure thank you!

Try kendamil comfort! I tried this with mine and it helped so much and started going for regular 💩s he’s been on it for about a month so now going to try and go back to the normal kendamil xx

The pre made works like a laxative. My baby had a mix of breast and ready made in hospital and they said don’t go to powder as it will block her up especially when younger. X

@Kate do you know when you transifion to powder? Or is it ready made all the way? He is 2 and a half weeks atm.

@Mariam I don’t just when they told me to combi feed for jaundice they said if I use formula at home if I don’t get enough pumped milk don’t use the powder it’s to much in there little bellies. I guess it’s down to preference x
