Christmas Inspiration 🎁

A few people have posted about Christmas presents so I thought I'd share something that we do in case it helps anyone. I've been doing this for years now with my older kids so it's a little tradition of ours. I use this rhyme as a way for me to structure their gifts and generate ideas so I don't go nuts. It also means there's a reasonable limit on the number of gifts and allows for a range of costs as well - like most things on the list can be done cheaply and there's flexibility for one or two things to be bigger gifts... Something to eat Something to build  A token or two so the stocking is filled  Something you want Something you need Something to wear  Something to read  A game to be played by the whole family  And something quite special from Santa/Daddy/name and me... Eat - usually a festive treat/snack but for example my oldest loves noodles so last year hers was a box full of all different ramen flavours Build - some kind of project, usually Lego or something for them to make/craft A token or two - means cheap little stocking filler type things, can be as many as you like. Want - something they've been asking for, this can be just a fun toy or that big ticket item like a bike when the time comes! Need - anything they generally might need for life/hobby/their rooms etc. For babies could be weaning stuff. It's not usually an exciting thing but a practical thing they will appreciate. Wear - clothes or pyjamas or just something cute/fun like cosy socks or slippers. Read - self explanatory 😂 Game for the family - anything we can all sit down and play together, from a proper table top game night affair or even just something silly like wind up racing Santas. Something special - for older ones this might be that really big thing that will blow them away (like a games console) or it could just be a special sentimental keepsake (like a personalised money box). I tag everything up (e.g. "Ruby's Something to Read") and I jumble everything up and tell them which one to go and find - this also stops them just tearing into everything randomly so they stop and concentrate on each thing as they open it! 🎅🎁🎄

I do Something you want (Big things that they don't necessarily need but keep asking for) Something you need (something they need that's a bit big to get as a random thing) Something to wear Something to read Something to have (something they don't need to share with others) Something to hold (toy, blankie, comforter, doll) Something to keep until you get old (memorable item like an ornament or personalised item)

Love both of these ♥️

I love this! I do read/wear/play/eat/need from father Christmas and then take them shopping for their gifts to each other, so on the day theyre just as excited to give each other their gifts and see what each other got it slows the process down! X
