Purées/ food

Hey ladies! I introduced purées to my 7 month old about a month ago. I was wondering how many times you feed your baby purées in a day? Also any tips on how to serve the babies real food? My Doctors said she can try like shredded chicken or eggs amongst other foods but she doesn’t have teeth yet? So not sure how she would eat anything of the real foods that aren’t puréed? Thanks for the advance!

Well, as long as it shredded, there should not be a problem with my daughter was six months. She was eating Cornish hen. Chickens are rather soft meat and go let your kids eat as much as they want. I mean that’s not obvious obvious obvious choice you’re gonna limit your purées because you think that’s the right choice you feed your kid as much as they want they don’t wanna eat anymore, she had as many as she wanted till she was full can you be surprised with kids will and will not eat my daughter was eating mashed potatoes and Cornish head by six month she’s now 2 eats everything

For the purées I give my little man 3 a day. He’s gets one a fruit in the morning with oatmeal, then at lunch (he actually likes the meat 😂) so I give him half a jar of meat and half a jar of a veggie. Then for dinner I give him the other half’s. I usually will give 2 oz in a bottle about 30 months prior to eating solids. And then if he still acts hungry I’ll let him just nurse after he eats the purée. I’ve been to scared to introduce table food yet too because my little guy doesn’t have teeth yet either.

Check out the solid starts app it’s very helpful in knowing how to cut / prepare solid foods so they are safe and easier for baby to eat

I offer purées (serenity kids) pouches for convenience because we are always on the go. They are 3.5 oz each and my son he’s 2 of them a day. I’ve tried to give the third one but sometimes he’s interested and sometimes not at all. So 2 seems to be what he’s into right now. My plan is to try offering the 3rd puree in a week again and see if he wants that. He is 18.5 pounds at 6.5 months old just for reference. I do the meat purées by serenity kids for the protein.

We’re doing baby-led weaning, which is all solids and no purees! There is a lot of really specific advice on this and some of it varies between foods, but a good rule of thumb is (if they don’t have their pincer grip yet) to cut long slices of food about the size of an adult pinky. And make sure all food has been cooked/steamed/whatever so that you can squish it down between your fingers. And don’t forget - gagging is a part of their learning! It can be really scary, but it’s very important to them figuring all this stuff out.
