Maternity leave

Has anyone decided which date they're going to take maternity leave from?? Made my plans this morning. Curious to see what week you're taking it from

Week 38 providing all goes well at my growth scans from 32 weeks 😊

I would say all depends on your job. I am a cleaner in a school and will be going off at February half term. Due March 30th x

I'm looking towards 35 weeks 🤣 but I'm starting to dislike my job I have pap-a so I'll also see how I get on with my growth scans and extra check ups

I would like to aim for two weeks before my due date (31st March)

I’m thinking mid-Feb but maybe early Feb depending how I’m feeling, due 5th March xx

I’m planning to work until 28th Feb and I’m due 10th March, although my first came 15 days early so I’ll make sure work are aware it may change last minute. But I’d rather have as long as possible off after baby is here

I'm going off Feb half term. I went on mat leave with first baby at 37 weeks and then LG didn't come until 42 weeks, this time I'll be 36 but might do the one week after half term making me 38 weeks as I'm having a elective section this time. X

My plan with my first was to use one week annual leave before mat leave...she had other ideas and my waters broke the evening of my last day at work at 36+5.

Due on the 5th and maternity is currently booked for 17th February. I still have 2 weeks of holiday left after booking all of my upcoming holiday, so unless I need to use some of that I will be off for the whole of February 😀 I work a full time corporate job a couple of days a week in the office but home working mostly x

I’m trying to go as late as possible (due 30th March ) as I prefer to have more time off with baby afterwards xx

Following! Intrigued to hear what others are doing as I've not decided yet but will need to soon ish! It's come around so quick🙈

I’m starting mine in January with one month annual leave. The maternity officially starts in February . Due 5th March.

Due 6th March. Plan to finish work 14th Feb and take 2 weeks annual and start mat leave on 3rd March

I’m due 17th and planning start mat leave on 10th. I wfh most of the week so will be easier to crack on for a bit longer and save as much time as I can for when baby is here

I’m going to start my maternity on my due date but use a couple of weeks of annual leave that i’ve saved before that so i can go a bit earlier, my first was born at 42+1 and i started my mat leave with him at 38 weeks so by the time he was born i felt like i’d wasted a month of maternity that i could have spent with him towards the end🥲

Have you got any annual leave you can take before so you can go off earlier? I did this with my first so then you can start your maternity leave nearer your due date. This worked really well for me at the time.

I have around, I'm in the process of cancelling some holidays too so I have more. If they're cancelled I'll have 10 days worth

I would mention though that you are entitled to carry forward any unused holiday from before maternity leave to after, so I worked as close as possible to not waste holiday or maternity and then when my 9 months paid ended, I still had so much holiday so I decided to use it to go back to work two days a week but get paid for 4 days and I was able to do this for 3 months until little one was 1 year old.

The thing is because I dislike my job at the moment I'm ready to just call it now but don't want to miss out on the benefits of maternity leave should I find another job. I'll be taking maternity in February just unsure when I'll use my holidays from as still need to see what Christmas preferences I get

@Kimberley I would call your Gp and get a sick note to get paid time off work and see this job through, you can always take maternity leave earlier on.

I am hoping to work from home till the end of my pregnancy… I work as a nurse but in the community everyone is super supportive and hopefully I will manage. I can’t carry on my annual leave from one financial year to another so hopefully I can manage to work as long as I can and then have a year off…
