How far away would you vacation alone with a toddler?

I want to travel with just my daughter and I (she's 3.5) but not sure if firstly, it's a good idea, and secondly, how far would be a good idea. She's been on planes before but not a road trip drive

I meant to pick quick plane ride!! This way, you wouldn’t have to make continuous stops alone on the road, and your girl wouldn’t be stuck in a car for hours!! This is just my thought process, as I hate stopping with just my baby and I.

I’ve done 8 hour road trips and 3 hour plane rides solo with my son. He’s a great traveler! For the road trips, I just scheduled stops every 2 hours.

I think whatever you feel comfortable doing. I would go on longer trips too with my girl or boys, they love to travel 🙂

I started flying with my son alone when he turned 1 year old. He’s 3 now and we’ve been to 3 countries together. Shortest flight was 3.5 hours. Longest was 6 hours. It’s doable. The more you fly, the better it gets. As for road trips, the longest we had was probably 2.5 hours.

My dad would say anywhere but he used to travel with me from Utah to Louisiana driving by himself. I think I'd max do a 15 hour drive alone and a 6 hour flight alone. But it would really depend on the temperament of the kid and how well they traveled and if they slept in the car seat well

I’d rather do a quick plane ride alone than a 3 hr car journey!

We live in SC and my son and I went on a trip to Seattle to see my sister. That was a little over a six hour plane flight, he had just turned two when we went and he was fine! When he had just turned one, we took a trip to New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. He did really well then too!

@Laura yeah the stopping is what would make me nervous. Even like a flat tire in the middle of nowhere, ya know the worst case scenarios 🥴

@Sam 8 hours?? Wow!! Yeah I think that could be an idea! I'm that type of person who just drives all the way through so I'll need to adjust

@Santa it seems like it would be fun!! I just get nervous thinking about being obviously by ourselves 😬

@Melanie yeah they can really only do 2 hours at a time safely. Remember you’re able to adjust yourself in your seat to reposition, they can’t. Their little bodies need to stretch out.

@Olga oh that's so cool!! He's got more stamps than adults! Lol I guess I'm more scared of traveling alone too

@Kylie dang that is far!! Yeah she can be pretty good, I think she could do 6 hrs!

@Kate aaw what a cutie!! Lol okay these are great tips!! Gaah the stopping is gonna kill me!! I'll compromise lol. I've been wanting to do farther trips too!

@Melanie I understand, we just travelled from Latvia to UK by car with 4 kids (7, 4.5, 2.5 and 3month old) we were 2 adults and we drove 4 days, slept 3 night in different hotels. It was fun and something to remember for kiddos 🥰
