You really should speak to the GP to be honest.

You don’t need to make her put on weight fast, that’s not the right way to go about it. Definitely see your GP.

First figure out what her underlying condition is. Your pediatrician can help you and refer you to a specialist. Then you can gradually give her foods that’ll help her gain weight. Is she eating solids? Try giving her bland foods like soap and oatmeal until the diarrhea goes away.

She needs to go see her GP ASAP especially since she lost so much weight and is weak- she’s probably also pretty dehydrated as well since diarrhea will cause dehydration. Excessive diarrhea can be fatal due to severe dehydration and I’m afraid the weakness may be coming from dehydration at least partially (this was the main cause of death when people were dropping like flies from dysentery) so she NEEDS to be seen. This type of weight loss from diarrhea needs to be evaluated by the doctor..ideally as it’s happening so it can be stopped as soon as possible… and the weight gain needs to be physician-led so it’s not gained too fast as that can cause a whole slew of other issues.

What everyone else said, please take her to a GP, her Paed, or the hospital immediately. I'd want to know what was going on before trying to get her to gain weight. Praying for you both. Keep us updated.

You need to get her well first! She will gain once she stops having diarrhea and starts eating again. Sounds like she got sick and dehydrated. Keep her hydrated best you can with ORS or pedialyte while you wait to hear back from her doc.

I would book her an emergency GP appointment today and if you can’t be seen today take her to A&E. They may put her on a drip to get her fluids up.

@Francesca absolutely. I think call 111 and see what they advise. Just needs to rule out infection or anything sinister if she’s poorly she will struggle to put on weight.

Go to A&E. Give her Lucozade sport on the way
