Breastfeeding/pumping

Hello so I have a 2 week old and I been mainly breastfeeding and pumping since I delivered my son but unfortunately my mental health has took a toll on this and I don’t feel like I physically can do this anymore so I talked to my sons dr and I am starting to formula feed now. So here we are what can I take or do to ease the pain of my milk to stop producing and such it’s only day 1 and I feel so much pain and I just want to curl up in a ball tbh. I scored really high on the postpartum depression scale so my obgyn scheduled me an appointment with my psychiatrist that I had before I was pregnant. When I was pregnant I had no struggles of mental health no depression, anxiety or even suicidal thoughts but before I was pregnant I did. This just makes no sense to me tbh idk I am trying I just was up all night and not bc my son was awake bc I literally couldn’t stop thinking. My son was actually sleeping more and I just couldn’t sleep tbh. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

i’ve heard of people using cabbage leaves like nipples pads to dry out the milk or help with engorgement !

I did the same thing when it comes to feeding my baby and I can tell you it did wonders for my mental health. The boob pain is tough but it'll pass!

@Connie ok thank u

My pained passed after about a week but my milk dried up after 2 wks, I was very irritable and cried myself to sleep/slept on my back due to the pain. I used pain medicine, ice packs, cold cabbage leaves these actually dry the milk up (causing you to leak + nipples get tingling sensation), wear a tight bra 24/7, and don’t stimulate breasts at all. Good luck!
