Mum friends

Hi guys, this is more of a little rant than anything else. Has anyone really struggled to get out and make mum friends? My LO is 8 months and I just feel so isolated, all my friends want to go drinking or our schedules don’t line up and it’s near impossible to see them but then finding friends with babies is even harder. I work full time as well so I can’t take my son to baby groups as I’d like and there’s none close to me and they’re all out of the way, I’m just feeling so lonely and I dont really know what to do or how to navigate this new bit of my life.

If you’re working 5 weekdays could you not switch 2 of the days to the weekend and have Thursday and Friday off for example so you could go to baby groups? Or maybe only work 3/4 days a week?

@Charlotte I work 4 days a week but it’s 10 hour shifts, I get a few weekdays off but there’s no easy for me to get to baby groups where I live, I don’t drive so it’s all public transport but there’s nothing that works distance wise for my days off x

Hey I’ve joined a WhatsApp group called mummies on maternity leave. There’s a West Yorkshire one if you’d like to join. We can always work out a day that fits you to meet up if you’d like xx This is the Instagram page. If you message Lucy she can send you the WhatsApp link https://www.instagram.com/mummiesonmaternityleave.uk?igsh=MWczOG03N2JqYjRtcg==

Not sure how local it is to you but we go to little seedlings in chapel Allerton by bus from the city centre, it’s open Monday - Friday & its PAYG booked in advance or walk in (if there’s space on the door). It’s also flexible in that you can arrive anytime from 0915 & the session end at 1230 but you can leave when it suits xx
