What to start weaning baby with?

Will you start weaning with baby rice and porridge or vegetables? Our HV advised to start with baby rice for a week and then porridge the next week but I’ve seen conflicting info online. x

Im planning to start with a veg puree tomorrow, if my LO doesn't like it I have a baby porridge we can try 🙂x

With what I've been reading it's recommended the first 2 weeks to give vegetables. If you're part of the boots parenting club there is a first foods book that I got for free today via a coupon. Ellas kitchen also has a free weaning chart and some useful information which also comes with free coupons for their pouches

I've started with the rice, to give baby a bit of texture, then going to add in veg puree next week. And build it up that way. I went straight in with veg with first born and he hated it, did porridge for a week and went back to veg and he did a lot better.

I’ve been told repeatedly don’t buy “baby” anything. Babies to eat what we eat (but mashed up). I’ve done 2 courses now and been to the feeding cafe and have been told the same info. I’m not going to puree - just mash up. Day 1-2-3 I’ll try 🥦day 4-5-6 🥑. Savoury to come first - then sweet. Lots of dietician led info on IG and YouTube also which is really helpful.

Solid starts app is great tells you how to prep different foods! We didn’t do porridge or rice went in with weetabix, veg, fruit mixed with yoghurt and now just blending whatever we have

I did the same with my little boy, first 20-30 days just a different fruit or veg, sometimes mixed like parsnips and sweet potato then after that I will introduce maybe some porridge and Greek yoghurt. I never bothered with baby rice and won't with my LG either

I’ve given my son some puréed veg and some porridge (made with blitzed rolled oats and his formula). At the moment he’s having barely 2 or 3 spoonfuls at a time and we don’t necessarily do it every day depending on how our day goes. Being very relaxed with it this time as I got so stressed with it with my daughter
