Screen time / TV

Is anyone else struggling with limiting screen time atm? My little one is 19mo, she isn’t massively interested in her toys exceptions for her kitchen, tea set, favourite books and baby doll. She doesn’t seem to like puzzles or anything like that. She just loves certain programmes on the tele, nursery rhymes and her favourite film and when I leave the tv off sometimes she has the biggest tantrums and I feel awful. Please tell me I’m not alone, feel like a shitty mum as it is.

you're not alone 🙏🏼 Did I watch Stick Man 1000000 times? Old McDonald and Ba Ba Black Sheep on repeat? I know it can be an unpopular opinion, but I'm way pass the feeling awful or guilty for screen time. We got this, we know when it's too much and when it's ok 'screen time' when it comes to our kids, no one knows them better than us and we can't compare x

My TV has always been on with either kids nursery rhymes or kids cartoons, he will occasionally sit and watch something for 5-10 minutes, but most of the time he will keep playing until a song comes on he likes and will watch until its finished. I've never been strict on screen time and have 4 older ones.. one of which was glued to the TV since a small baby and he's just completed college and is one of the cleverest kids I've ever met was always advanced for his age. Don't feel guilty at all x

Mine is the same and I also feel like a shitty Mam for it! I also partly blame my MIL who looks after him whilst we both work for letting him watch too much, mine has his a few favourite toys and loves reading but then eventually gets bored. He asks for it to be put on or grabs the remote and tries to put it on or if it’s already watching it he will pinch the remote from you and he knows how to work it 🙈 I wish I lived closer to my Mam because he very rarely gets the T.V on over there if that doesn’t sound silly.

We have tv on all day everyday. I’m not feeling guilty anymore 😂

We also have to tv on all day everyday! He tends to watch it for a bit then go off and do something else so I will always try to engage in the other stuff where I can but we also love to chill with Bluey on 🥰

It’s really hard but I suppose anything educational is better then watching something that’s of no benefit to them d

Yes definitely! My little one is poorly and I am 33 weeks pregnant and I feel fully wiped out at the moment, so it makes me feel even more guilty!!
