i’m not healing well postpartum

my birth experience was traumatic to say the least. lots went wrong and it lasted 30 hours. in the end, i hemorrhaged. my doctor hasn’t checked on me and his office blew me off. i’m a week and a couple days pp, and my vagina feels horrible. still bleeding, shocking pain, burning. it hurts to sit. i know healing takes a while but i feel like i should be getting better, not still feeling tremendous pain. anyone else experience something similar?

I would schedule and appointment with a different provider and explain your situation. This doctor seems unprofessional. And even if he did everything “right” a doctor is supposed to take a patients concerns seriously whether they are or not. Now, if you had to be cut from vagina to anus it would make sense why it still hurts like it does. Regardless, the doctor should be seeing to it. Just in case there is infection

@Kenzie i did have to get stitches so maybe that’s why i’m struggling?? either way, you’re right, i’m going to see someone else today!

@janaya can I ask what degree was your tear/episiotomy (if you had one)? I had stitches as well and I was in hardly any pain by the first week. Mostly just feeling tenderness. However I was just a 1st degree year. Someone else I know was given an episiotomy and should barely sit up for 2 weeks without being in excruciating pain. She believes the doc injured a nerve when she got cut.

@Bri the Birth Doula i believe it was second. but i’m not super sure bc the doctors wouldn’t tell me anything and i was so out of it 😭

The first 2 weeks can really suck depending on your tear. If you tore. Is the only pain in the vaginal area? It’s also normal to be bleeding still, but it should get lighter, like a period.

I had to advocate for myself in order to just get a donut to sit on. Get yourself a donut and it can help minimize the pain from the stitches. I remember being shocked that nurses/doctors were surprised that I was in so much pain (I pushed for 4.5 hours).

Please please please go see a different doctor. It took me the full 6 weeks to feel like my stitches were unnoticeable. I thought that shi was infected every other day but dr kept telling me to just rest and let it heal. It’s so uncomfortable tho I feel u like sitting down was😫😫😫 But fr pleaseeeeee go at least get checked by someone else. U are too important!

@MJ_xo yup it’s just my vagina. really bad burning

@Nisa thank u 😌 and i also feel like there’s an infection or something! it’s just going on too long and I don’t see how it could effectively heal with so much fluid going through that area every day. urine and blood, discharge, etc..

It sounds like something normal but knowing how many preventable things go wrong with women post partum bc doctors ignore them, I’d check to make sure everything is ok and demand the doctor checks me or find one who will.

@MJ_xo absolutely
