Not eating at nursery

My little boy started nursery at 9 months and he did this, he wouldn’t eat anything or sleep it was like he was on strike because I sent him to nursery and wasn’t with me. He was like it for a few months and then when he settled in he was fine, he still has days when he doesn’t eat much because so much is going on and other days he eats lots! I think it’s just the adjustment of everything, hopefully he should start getting better soon xx
He currently goes 2 full days a week and they said he’s normally a bit unsettled in the morning but after his nap he seems a lot happier but it’s just him eating the meals their struggling to get him to eat but they keep reassuring me this is normal and he’ll be eating there soon. He only started the beginning of September so know we are still in the early days but just hate knowing he won’t eat 🥺
@Harley if he’s only been there a month then it’s SUCH early days, give him a couple of months and he’ll be well settled and eating everything. I promise it really does get easier. Sometimes it’s an adjustment to the environment and the types of food served but I promise he will eat as the weeks go by. My daughter used to have more formula if she wasn’t eating much, but now they give her no milk at all and she eats some brilliant meals. She loves nursery so much
@Charlotte thank you so much! It means a lot to know this is normal. I just hate knowing he’s not eating and worry he’s upset but they always tell me that he’s fine and they get him to eat more snacks etc. when I pick him up I always make sure I’ve got rice cakes on me as their his favourite at the moment. Drop offs have got a little easier but I still find myself calling the nursery to ask if he’s eaten x
My little boy is the exact same!! He won’t eat a single thing some days and sometimes barely drinks 😢 I definitely think it’s because they’re still settling in, it’s such a huge change for them bless them 🩷🩷
Could just be that he’s settling in and is still struggling a little bit. Have nursery said if he’s upset while there? My daughter didn’t each much when she first went but after 6 months, she eats everything. Is he a fussy child with food generally?
