Single parent uk

Hi everyone , me and my partner has decided to go our seperate ways this week, which i’m finding quite scary with a 2 year old and a baby on the way. We have a morgage together, but have decided i live here for 2 years just so i can raise the new baby and not ruin our daughter’s home life and rountine. What are the help will i get as im current working 22.5 hours a week and not making much money , i’m really worried on the financial side of if im able to afford doing this . Any advice would be appreciated thank you!

I would contact UC straight away, it's less about the hours you work and more how much you earn. I'm not sure if they provide any help towards a mortgage but you can use one of the online calculators to get a rough idea on what you're entitled to. If you are entitled to UC and your daughter is in nursery while you work, they should also help with paying some of the cost.

Contact uc ASAP and set up a claim. You should get quite a bit of money from them to help you.

Thank you, i’ll do It Monday 😊

I'd personally do it today as they go by the exact change date so you'd be closer to the change happening than next week. They'll then backdate any money to this week too. You can do it online or atleast make the claim start today so it's ready to go Monday for I.d etc

You can also go on websites like entitled to and turn2us. If you put your details in, It’l give you an idea of what you might get whilst UC get your claim up and running x
