@Hayleigh thank you, I stay in Georgia and this whole process sucks. It was in the divorce decree for him to pay, but I have to spend money in order for him to pay and find it so unfair. I know I read it on the paperwork that he needs to contact the court or my lawyer within 30 days with an answer, i’m just anxious to know how he would even try to justify not paying a dollar. Mind you he’s still employed and makes over 120 K a year plus bonus. I make 65K a year and support an our two children. It’s so hard. I read somewhere that they may make him bring a certain percentage to court or put him in jail. I just need to relax and allow my lawyers to do their job.
I I'm not sure about contempt of court. It's different everywhere but I work in child support in Ohio. Typically, the agency itself (not your attorney) would have referred the case to the court and asked him Show Cause as to why he isn't paying. Then he would likely be offered to pay a purge on top of his normal monthly amount. They would hold a 30 day jail sentence over his head if he doesn't pay. Not so sure about contempt of court, but they may fine him and send some of it to child support
