@Kayleigh she’s probably gagging, not choking. It’s perfectly normal for them to gag as they’re learning a new skill
You can’t really properly choke on something super big because it can’t fit in the wind pipe. Small things like blueberry sized things are bigger choking hazards
Babies have incredibly good gag reflexes, they’ll never be as good as in babyhood. Finger foods and chunky, graspable pieces are far less of a hazard than something cut small. Small=lodged in the pipe.
Solid starts is a really good resource to show how to serve food depending on age. It’s actually recommended to give them larger items so they can bite off their own bit, it’s less of a choking hazard than cutting everything up really small
