There's some Gestational Diabetes groups on here with loads of info! I was diet controlled for a while but now on low dosage of Metformin!

Thankyou

Hey I did in my third trimester. I just was super on it with my diet. Weighed my carbs and worked out how many grams of actual carbs was in stuff etc. it was a boring few weeks food wise but I managed to keep it all in check. That first sugary treat post baby… hits! Good luck xx

Metformin and insulin worked a treat for me zxx

I feel like the more I look into it, the more it seems people are one way or the other: often if your fasting levels are fine, you can manage by diet only (obviously not always I just mean often), but if your fasting is high consistently, you will likely end up on meds as it's so hard to get fasting levels down as it's mostly down to hormones which you can't control! I'm currently 2 weeks into it having been diagnosed at 28 weeks and managing by diet. That being said, it apparently gets harder to just diet control as your hormones are raging the most between 32/36. Just do your best without starving yourself and see how you get on.

My fasting on a morning is between 4-4.6 and it's not gone higher yet. However I can spike over 7.8 quickly after certain foods so I have to be very strict!

I’ve cut out full sugar fizzy drinks and my levels have been fine x

I spike with everything 😒 its tough get your doses of insulin correct and you'll get through it I'm 4 weeks into insulin and I still have highs. My fasting I can't get below 5.4 and refuse to take anymore insulin at night get what works for you everyone is different

I was already on metformin. I control it by having a low carb (20g) for breakfast, 40-60g for other meals and regular small snacks. I put cheese with everything, even if I have porridge for breakfast I will have a couple of slices of cheese with it.
