If you'd feel safer going inside then do so however even in the parking part they'll have cctv and can come out if anything happens.

Depends, after my protective order I required an officer to be at every exchange. But they were always done in a precinct parking lot. Even when I didn’t request an officer be present I still did them in the parking lot. However, depending on your area and the ability for someone to be present at drop offs (if you think it’s necessary) you can do them in the precinct as there likely will always been someone in the precincts and they are usually recorded.
