Does your baby eats almost everything as you do?

I read somewhere that your baby should eat family meals with you once they are over one year old. What are the restrictions do you follow? Like I won’t give sugar or too much oil etc.

If I do something spicy I’ll do her a separate one with mild spice. If I do something with soy sauce I’ll use reduced salt soy sauce and then add some dark soy sauce to mine afterwards. If I cook with pancetta or bacon she won’t have it I’ll do a separate one. Other than that she basically eats what we eat. If it’s something that has a stock cube in I’ll probably do her her own with a low salt stock cube, but then she has the same mash as us with salted butter. Generally she doesn’t eat salty food in the day, always has water available, I’m not worried about her eating the same things we do. I don’t often cook with salt either I prefer to use other spices and then can always add salt in at the end. I’m trying to find some healthy baking recipes atm for us to make that aren’t loaded with sugar or sugary things, and no chocolate too as it’s personal preference but I don’t really want her having chocolate even so she’s almost 2 - she has a little bit at nursery though

My children have been eating the same food is us as a family meal time since 6 months old and chocolate from 6 months old too 🤷🏼‍♀️ Personal preference.

Both of mine have been on family meals before 1. I don’t make anything stupidly spicy, or with honey before 1. But other than that, I don’t really make any other adaptations. I cook with normal salt stock cubes, gravy etc, I just don’t add any additional salt after that until their portions are plated. They don’t eat enough of anything in large enough quantities for me to feel particularly worried about it. I also don’t really restrict sugar, I’m more about everything in moderation. My youngest (almost 9mo) has tried ice cream, chocolate, biscuit etc. same as my 3yo did- and he’s a fantastic eater.

I use the mummy and me cookbook which has really good recipes for the whole family. My daughter is a big fan!
