Potty training

Please share your potty training experiences 😊 We tried maybe four months ago and he wasn't quite ready so back to day 1 today. Is anyone else training or yet to train?

We are half trained only wears pulls up for bed. At the beginning I just let him run round bottom half naked. Just keep asking and expect multiple accidents. We’ve been trained now around 6 months

Been training since June. Only started asking to go to the toilet or going to it herself as past 2 weeks a week after introducing star charts in the bathroom. We had been ongoing taking her when we thought she needed to go. She gets a star for every pee in the toilet and if we’re out and about she gets to add the stars when she gets home. Poos still a WIP she still tries to hide and has accidents with those

Been trained for last 5 months, but still wears pull ups for bed. First 3 days we just constantly asked him to go to the toilet every 30min, had a lot of accidents on the first day but by 3rd day he was asking himself, he was very slow in adjusting so for the next 10 days he kept having accidents in nursery or home but usually just one a day and only pee. Now he still has couple of accidents only at nursery but it’s mostly when he’s too engrossed in an activity and forgets to go to the toilet

We tried back in May with no success. Started back again about 3 weeks ago but never did the full on 3 days at home potty training.. we basically sent him to nursery without nappies and started from there 🫤. It’s been hit and miss, I would say 1-3 accidents a day, most accidents when he is distracted in the garden at nursery or watching tv

Ngl she taken to it like a duck to water maybe 1 or two accidents since August. Thought she’d have more at nursery but nothing. Even when she had a nappy on before bed or nap time she will still take the nappy down and go on the potty x

My daughter hasnt wore a nappy since January, peeing we never had an issue since a week before her 2nd birthday, but she was poop withholding until recently 😔 but finally seeing the back of that now, but stay calm and patient... Expect accidents and praise every effort they make!

Thanks all. Yesterday wasn't so bad with just a few accidents and we've started with nothing on the bottom half. As soon as we put trousers on to go out for a walk with the dog, it's like he forgets he can use the potty which was the issue we had last time but I guess it will just click eventually? I also seem to be having much more success than nursery which is kind of frustrating as they were almost encouraging putting it off again but I said I want to stick with it. I guess once it really clicks at home, it will also at nursery too?

Started in May, she really struggled, tried again at the start of the 6 weeks holidays, she's now almost fully dry through the day (only one accident at nursery in the last 4 weeks, and no accidents at home), still in a pull up for bed, but last night she woke herself up for the first time to go to the loo 🤯😁 she came and woke me up and said she needed a wee so I took her, and her pull up was still dry from 8pm to 1am, she had a wee, I put another pull up on her and she was dry again till morning. My daughter grasped it at home a lot quicker than at nursery x

We have finished day 2, had a couple accidents but seems to have more of an understanding how to pee on demand if that makes sense. He 'tries'. Going to continue as we are. He turns 3 in February

@Jen my 2.5 year old is doing the same...how did u get over it. He will poo in his pants or wait to poop until i put a nappy on. Great at peeing in the potty but will not poop

@Jessica see my daughter just wouldn't poop... At all!!! It was awful... We had to get movicol to help her go as she would go a week+ without one so it was big and hurt which made it worse, we just encouraged, kept her naked waist down, praised every little effort she made and made a massive deal and danced when she did start to do it, the calmer the better and just keep reminding 'you feel poo poo you go potty or toilet' she didn't like the potty so had to get a seat for the toilet... That didn't last long either as she is independent and stubborn 🤦🏼‍♀️😂x

@Jen To be honest I think he picks up on my anxiety about it as it is stressing me out. Thank you for the advice...I need to be very patient by the sound of it x

Yes patience is the key and lots of praise when they try/do
