Yes! My MIL has always been OTT. I got really annoyed when baby was little, she would constantly keep texting to have her etc, pressuring me to take her over early in the morning when it was hard enough to get out the door. I go back to work full time the week after next and she will be having her two days a week. She keeps asking when she can have her this week even though these are my last weeks off with her 🙄 winds me up. I told her I want this time with her and she said she understands but still keeps on. They just turn up in the evening too and facetime pretty much every night even if they will be having her the next day

@Zoë I’m experiencing this too but with my own mum which I’m finding awful because of course I love my mum to pieces but she’s just SO obsessed with my little one I feel no one thinks about how I feel?! She’s so sensitive anytime I’ve mentioned it to her it ends in an argument so I don’t bother anymore but it’s starting to really affect me… I sometimes feel my little one prefers her to me!!

Yeah I bet that is hard. I have had a few arguments with my husband because of it too! I feel the same, she acts like she is her child not mine and her advice should come before our own etc. She even makes faces about her going to nursery which is what we wanted, she tries to make me feel awful and said I don't know how it makes her feel 🙄 as if I don't worry about her myself or care. I feel like she thinks she is the parent and I come second to her too. On the other hand my mother is the opposite, hardly bothers 😂 so I get the whole 'at least my mother makes effort', cannot win

@Zoë it’s so hard isn’t it! My mum is exactly the same with thinking it’s her child… I get texts every morning asking how she slept etc! & when I don’t see her one day she gets all funny and says to my little one ‘I haven’t seen you for so long’ 🥲 Just holding on in the hope it gets better

My mil is the same😔 every single day i get 21 questions - did she sleep ok? Has she had her milk? Whats she ate? What did she do at nursery? It’s very very overwhelming and as it is my mil I can’t just tell her to leave me alone. I also go back to work next week full time where she will be looking after her and I’m beginning to get a little bitter about the situation, almost jealous that she will basically get more time with my baby than I will😔

@Melissa I feel this too! I feel like going part time just so I can have that time with her rather than my MIL but it's not an option really! It is hard knowing they will be with them more than us through the week

@Zoë same! I’m fortunate enough that my daughter is going nursery 3 mornings of the week as I feel I need to reduce the attachment but I honestly want her to go nursery more. My mil makes nasty comments all the time about the fact she’s going nursery and I think there’s no need. I’m hoping that once I’m settled back into work my mind is eased x

@Melissa ahh that is good! Our baby is going to nursery for two days too and she acts like I'm abandoning her 🙄 I'd rather her go there, she will learn more skills etc! I would send her more days if it wasn't so expensive too. Yeah same here, it should get easier! X

@Zoë I’m glad I’m not the only one🥰 x
