Is it too early to start feeding my baby?

When did y’all start introducing food to your babies. My son just turned 3 months old and I wanna start introducing him to some solid food. Mostly purée food but I’m not sure whether it’s too early or not?

It may be too early they always suggest 6 months

Used to be 4-6 months. My first baby was born July 29th and had a few bites of mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving for his first food.

It is recommended to wait until baby is sitting with minimal support. From my understanding it has to do with the risk of choking and their digestive system not being ready. My first was a little over 6 months. And with this one we'll wait until she is sitting. Choking freaks me out so much. I'd rather not risk it.

4 months for purées and 6 months for solids :)

It’s probably too early.. I’d definitely talk to your pediatrician at your next appointment about when would be an appropriate time to start introducing purées!!

My baby 3 months, I took him to my gmas house nd she gave him some apple puree and tore it up. She was like Ian never waited 6 months. I made sure to take it slow give him a taste of it first and stick to one flavor no mixes. He is doing fine. Sleeps longer too.

I've also been thinking about letting my LO (currently 13.5 weeks) start tasting purees as she's showing all the signs of being ready, including trying to shove her face in my food lol, plus in the mornings it takes 2x as much breast milk to satisfy her. I'm waiting til her 4 month appointment in November to mention it to her pediatrician, but if the morning hunger gets any worse I might just let her start tasting little amounts before then

6 months is the absolute earliest which is recommended for anything other than milk. Your baby’s stomach cannot handle food yet, and there’s lots of evidence linking early food introduction to lifelong stomach and digestive issues. Just wait a bit longer. https://www.unicef.org.uk/babyfriendly/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2008/02/Start4Life-Introducing-Solid-Foods-2015.pdf

@Reese ❤️ same!!

Its too early. Their digestive system is still immature and it will cause constapation. Theres no rush for starting solids. 6 months is the recommendation.

I know it’s so exciting and you want to try food with them but starting food before 6 months can cause a lot of unnecessary problems because their little immune systems can’t tolerate all the work that goes into actually digesting food. I totally understand wanting to give them food tho my 4 month old cried at my 4 year old yesterday because he wanted her popsicle 😅
