Solid Transition

Anyone else struggling to feed their 12 month old? I barely cook 1 meal for myself. Now I’m required to make 3 healthy meals that is not a chocking hazard for a baby with only 4 teeth 😳

Ugh this is me. We pay for little spoon and it has saved our asses. I only order 8 meals every two weeks and When we are in a pinch we use it. Our little guy loves their meals. It’s an extra expense but worth it to me for my mental health and sanity when i just don’t have it in me to cook after a Day at work

@Kelly I was trying to decide if little spoon or Nuture Life was worth looking into. Thanks for the insight!

😂😂 yass 👏!! We just started hello fresh again, but I completely feel you with the STRUGGLE!

Batch cooking has been my life lately! Just making bigger recipes and freezing some to use for little girl’s meals when I’m not hungry has helped relieve the mental load.

Lmfao so relatable. Poor kid is living off chicken nuggets, fish sticks, pasta and uncrustables 🥲 he is picky with fruit & veg so I sneak those in with pouches.

same lol im glad my baby goes to daycare and they feed her lunch there and snacks so I only have to worry about dinner. But during the weekend we gotta get creative 😭😂

Oh. I also like ready set food snacks to make sure I'm keeping up with regular allergen introductions. Cerebelly bars are nice but they are crumbly. And of course I give halo oranges, and apples often. Just because he loves them and asked for them a lot.

Here i was feeling so bad because my eating habits are awful 😭 I'm so glad I'm not alone. I do usually give her whatever we are having or make her something. The baby cereal has still been helpful and I mix in a fruit puree with it. My lil one still doesn't have any teeth yet tho

Those gums are hard and can mash most things. My little one only has front teeth and that's not what we chew with. Be mindful of it, but there is little he can't have.

@Chelsi she has been getting more than that! Just today at lunch she had some sausage and Canadian bacon off of our pizzas. She also has rice and pasta. I more meant that the cereal has been helpful when I need something fast and easy.

Same here. I’m so lost, my son literally won’t even try food sometimes. He’ll take bites off things and it’s like he doesn’t eat anything, he’s still on formula and IM LOSTTTTTT, I don’t know what to do 😭😭😭

Oh same here!! It's so difficult to feed my little guy sometimes because I don't always eat and I don't always eat healthy lol 😫 so it does get hard to find something for him that's going to be nutritional and filling!

🖐 Same. It's REALLY hard some days... Lately, I've been batch cooking and freezing salmon patties (canned fish, egg, chive, salt & pepper cooked in Tbs sized patties)- which are good for lunch/dinner protein in a pinch! Our daughter also has fresh sliced berries 🍓🫐 OR cherry tomato 🍅 pretty much daily because it's SUPER easy finger food. I'll also do peanut butter 🥜 thinly spread on a folded whole wheat 🌾 tortilla that gets cut into 8 pieces. *Trying* to find more proteins to offer, but she's not completely sold on scrambled egg texture 🫤 Thinking of making humus to freeze in ice cube tray...

this is literally my life, I hate the issue but I am glad I’m not alone. I am super nervous about solids in general as I always fear about choking. But when I went to 12 month check up I had discussed this with his doctor and she told me that realistically a toddler eats one good meal a day and then snacks and picks at the rest throughout the day, gave me relief. The main things my little one eats is yogurt turkey and cheese sandwiches and PB&J obviously cut up to bite size pieces. Mac and cheese the personal size cups and also personal sized mashed potato cups. Little bites muffins I cute those up also eggs, oatmeal, puffs, chicken nuggets, French fries and then has baby apple juice, water and he is getting use to whole milk. I still do a bottle in the morning and at night to ensure those nutrients also but it’s super hard I also get the once upon a farm pouches to help with getting in calories he needs. This is definitely not easy!

It has actually made me eat more because now I make meals for myself and feed her off of it. I used to eat 1 meal a day but now she eats about everything with me. At first I did banana, eggs oatmeal or avocado for breakfast, steamed veggies for lunch, and meat/pasta for dinner. I came to terms with it not having to be a full balanced meal every time and most of the time they only pick at it. One random weekend my daughter just went crazy eating almost everything I gave her and we haven’t looked back since. She loves chicken and fries/tater tots but don’t stress mama! They will pick it up on their own time all you can do is try to offer ❤️
