Picky eater + Trying new foods

What do you do when your toddler (child) is trying new foods, takes two bites then starts gagging by the third bite. They'll then Spit it out and refuse to try it again? I read on the "What to Expect" app that just because they'll spit it out it doesn't necessarily mean they don't like it. That, it's all just very new and they need to try it a couple of times again. I always have like the same sides (fruits and veggies) or I'll rotate a new fruit keep the same veggie and vice versa. I get excited about him trying new foods!! 😊 Well, in my case (& it's only been a week) we've rotated new foods and my son still spits it out. Not a problem at all. my question is.... Do you, 1) have their favorite foods on stand by 2) say oh well 🤷🏻‍♀️ you should have eaten when we were all eating (harsh lol I don't do this) 3) try again the next mealtime/ tomorrow 4)Give up & try again when they're older

A mix of 1 & 3. I’ve heard to give them a meal with their preferred food and the new food on the same plate. Avoid using words like yummy and yucky. And just keep offering. It can take like 20 tries or something ridiculous for baby to decide they like it

my kids doc said keep offering them things they like and a tiny piece of the new or target food with every meal for a week if they srart eating great if not move in to something new

@Poppie that’s actually very polite of her 😅🤣
