Potty training

We decided to give potty training a go last Friday. First 3 days we did at home with nothing on her bottom half and she absolutely nailed it. Day 4 onwards we have been putting knickers on and trousers on top of that when at nursery and it's like she cannot grasp the concept anymore. I wonder if she feels like she's wearing a nappy so can go whenever she likes? We're on day 6 tomorrow and I'm ready to give up. Is it right to give up or should I be persevering?

Day 1 I was ready to give up! Day 2 seemed not much better but days 3-5 were great then it was like going back to day 1 again! 2 bad days 2-3 good ones went on as a cycle like that for a few weeks. Had a few hiccups along the way hospital stays ect but now 8 weeks from starting and he's doing great he still does have days where he has 1 or 2 accidents because he forgets but given the fact he's a 2 year old boy It seems great! You'll both get there. Toilet training is definitely my least favourite bit of parenting! X

@Claire thanks! I really do want to persevere as I think she is doing great when she's in the nude. The easy option would definitely be to give up, especially as I have a newborn at home 🙈 I just don't know what to do for the best. So far I'd take potty training over weaning 😂😂

Don’t give up! We were exactly the same and then someone on here gave the advice to start at home without anything on the bottom then try with loose fitting trousers … I think the knickers give the feel of a nappy! We’re probably 2 months in and still struggling with no.2s 🫣 but wees are all good! Keep going!!!

I have also started, day 1 it was 50/50, he never initiated, I had to put him on potty and read to him and help him. It's a struggle! I have to say potty training is the one thing I've dreaded. We always go out, staying home isn't our thing. Also he doesn't care much if he's trousers are wet 🥴😩🫠 don't know if it's too early,

I think they think knickers are nappies . My LG jas been potty training for around 5 weeks and the first 2 weeks we'd have accidents in knickers but at home she was always naked. I started to put knickers on her whilst at home and it took a day or two for her to grasp the concept. It does eventually get easier and now she tells me when she needs to go.although she won't use the potty before leaving the house and insists in sitting on the travel potty in the car eaxh time. Which is annoying but she's not wetting. Just persevere. It could be because at nursery she's distracted by everyone else also.

Ditto the thinking pants are nappies. To be honest our son went commando for ages. Worked for us. 👍
