MIL…

So I’m totally gonna sound like a monster. I have. 15 month old and a 3 month old baby. When I had my first, my MIL hurt her “back”, Then she hurt her “wrist” Then when I had my second baby, she was too tired to come visit Sorry all those things are reasons why she can’t visit.. I want to add she lives around the corner from us. Anyways she never checks up on me or the kids or even her own damn son. My husbands brother created a group chat and I left it bcuz no one other than the brother would talk to me. For reference they have a sister. So anyways now the MIL is saying she has cancer, but it’s not diagnosed yet.. but now that’s her other excuse and now I’m supposed to feel bad and cater to that, and I really don’t want to!!!! I have hard feelings and I somewhat don’t even believe it as harsh as that sounds. It’s just a bunch of bullshit! And it drives me Nuts!

I definitely understand your trepidation. After all it's not fair or a good relationship for your needs to always come second to hers. If she wants people to drop everything and take care of her and give her sympathy she should also be doing the same for others frankly. That's just how good, healthy relationships work. But I don't blame you for being reticent to hold up your half of a relationship contract when she has repeatedly not upheld hers. You could choose to be the bigger person and that'd be a credit to your character, but frankly it's not owed at this point. If she wanted to have the kind of relationship where you take care of her she should have built it up when she had the chance before she needed something from you. That's how relationships work.

@Tagmayne I’ve definitely tried to be the better person, gave her opportunity to see her grandkids and she just rejects me, makes an excuse. So I’m just done, but everyone thinks I’m the asshole for it 🤣

So my mother lives around the corner from us and we never see her. My in laws live 3 hrs away (thankfully) and only met my son twice when he was younger. Once at 8 weeks and once at 5 months old It doesn’t bother me. It’s their losses. My son doesn’t know them and that’s on them. He’s an amazing little guy and I’m glad to not have unnecessary drama or stress or nonsense. My in laws only ever called my husband when they needed money or something dramatic happened in their lives. My mil is dying and haven’t spoken to her since my son was born

You’re not an asshole. Protect your peace. Keep positive energy for your babies 🫶🏻

Sorry, cancer is super fresh on my mind, we just lost a close family friend last week, and my stepmother last month to cancer. The first thing that came to mind was cancer when you said that she said she was too tired to visit.. I hope she and I are wrong. Our friend had weird pains and was just feeling a little off until 2 weeks ago when he went into the ER, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and basically sent home with pain pills to die. He was gone a little over a week later. Surreal. My stepmother was diagnosed a little over a year before passing. My mom also didn't know she had cancer until she went to the ER and went into respiratory failure while there.. it was the autopsy that revealed a giant tumor on her lung.. she had seemed normal right up to the Dr. visit for a persistent cough and fatigue.. the Dr. dismissed it so she went to the ER, that was the last day anyone heard her voice.. it's one thing if she's out, active, visiting other grandchildren, etc. and avoiding yours.. but... 🤷‍♀️

@Sarah im so sorry to hear of your losses! I can sympathize believe me. But this woman has been like this since the day I met her 🤣 Also she had energy to walk around IKEA and shop.. so yknow that’s kinda where I get upset

@Christina🤱🏼🍂🌮🍕🥗🍦☕️♈️ Honestly it just sucks! Why are families so dysfunctional nowadays?! When my mom was alive things were so much simpler!

Because people are self absorbed and only care about themselves. My sister had a village when she had her kids. I don’t have that. I’m 100% alone and I’ve accepted that. I take my son out and make the memories with him the best I can with what I’ve got to offer. I don’t need anyone else because all people do nowadays is judge or compare and I don’t need that nonsense
