Advice needed please

Today I had my 28 week bloods taken and my gestational diabetes test. I haven’t got my results back yet for GD but the blood results show online as low iron. Does this mean anemia? Should I be worried? It is linked to GD? I’m so worried about it all. Any advice or similar situations would help x

I don’t know about having it with GD but i also just got told im anaemic, but apparently its totally normal as the baby needs so much iron and isnt anything to worry about, ive just got some prescription iron tablets for it and they are checking my bloods again at next appointment and hopefully it will have gone back up x

With my first, my iron was low. I was just given iron tablets. Megan is right. It's totally normal. X

Eat lots of naturally rich in iron foods which are safe in moderation. Look up what you need as a daily allowance and eat for that. Best way to up your intake x

I don’t think it’s linked to GD. My GD test was normal but my iron levels were low as well. I took iron tablets for 2 weeks and now my levels are normal again!

I’ve been on iron tablets since my 7 week appt, had my GD test at 25 weeks and that came back fine so I don’t believe it’s related try not to worry x

If you don't get on with iron tablets, try Spatone. I have one sachet every morning in my orange juice - can't taste it at all, and raised my iron levels back to normal

I was also told I had mild anemia but no GD. Even though i take my vitamins every day and also make sure there’s lots of iron in my diet. They’ll give you iron pills which make your number 2 black. Sorry for the tmi. It’s pretty normal though, most women get low on iron during pregnancy

My GD results were absolutely fine but my iron levels were borderline, midwife suggested more iron in my diet will help bring the levels up again. Definitely not related x

Ladies thank you so much for your comments. It’s made me feel so much more at ease. I’ve been told if I don’t hear anything by today about GD then no news is good news. I have my midwife appointment next week so hopefully she’ll just advise more iron etc Thanks again xx
