Hospital bill

Did you guys get a hospital bill? Was it in the mail or at the hospital? My son was born in California and I had medical at the time. My medical covered all my OB visits while pregnant and I delivered at a hospital that was a sister hospital to my Dr office that they said I should go to. So I’m hoping it was just covered?! I got all sorts of mail but nothing ever about a bill. My son was a NICU baby and I do remember getting mail that the NICU stay was covered but never anything about my birth. I’ve since moved out of state and have never thought about this 🤣

It depends on your insurance. I have a MyChart account with my hospitals portal and was able to see all of the billing for my pregnancy including OB and MFM visits, as well as the birth and my baby's stay as a newborn. We chose our medical plan specifically because we had no coinsurance so I knew how much it would be (just $1500 in copays for the hospital stay). If you had coinsurance or other costs you didn't pay, you may have a bill. Can you create an account with the hospital to see or call them?

@JL I’ve never heard of Coinsurance in my life 😂 idk if I’d be able to set up an account a year and a half later especially since I’m no longer on medi-cal because I’ve moved to Illinois! I should’ve made MediCAL more specific in this post 😅

You should always be able to set up medical accounts with providers you previously had records with. That's the great the about EHR systems. You can usually even dig up historic results. If it's medi cal, though, or any other Medicaid, I doubt they have coinsurance. Best way to know is to call if you're not sure!

I had 2 insurances, one of which was Medicaid, and never received anything about the birth. I had to call them and they told me it was 100% covered

@Kassidi girl I hope that’s what they tell me!!

@Korissa after 16 months they wouldn’t be getting any money out of me 😅 but I’ve heard really good things about MediCAL covering everything!

@Korissa pretty sure it's illegal for them to bill you about something you couldn't know about and it doesn't count against your credit score, so don't stress too much!

I’d just call the hospital and make sure your bill is settled. That’s what we did
