Wont eat meals

Hi Everyone, My Little boy who is coming up 17 month old is totally regressing against his food.. i can only get him to eat porridge or weetabix for all meals. He was such a good eater up until last friday, he had picked up a bug from nursery so i expected him not to eat as much, but now hes better, hes still the same! I did ask the doctor and she said this can happen.. but hes barely eating anything and not crying because hes hungry🤔 hes quite happy but its worrying me 🤦‍♀️ hes quite petite as it is so he cant really afford to lose weight🥺 has anyone else been through this?

Hi hun, just want to send you a virtual hug as we're going through the exact same thing right now. My LG just turned 17 months today and her appetite was amazing recently but the past few days, she's just turning her nose up to everything. When I ask if she's hungry, she just says no and she isn't crying when she actually wants food either. She's picking at bits and bobs but not finishing a full meal at all. She's also waking us in the night for a bottle and she hasn't done this since she was 3 months old. I'm truly hoping there's light at the end of the tunnel soon xx

My little boy was exactly the same last week but he’s back to his usual self now and stuffing his face. Hang in there!

@Nicola its frightening really isnt it! I managed to get a little bit of mash in his mouth on sunday and he started to bork on it 🤔 which is strange because he loves it- and then again hes fine with porridge but will only have so much🤷🏻‍♀️ oh dear i feel for you having to get up during the night, especially not having to do that for so long ! we can only keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best i suppose 😬🤞xx

@Sophie how many days did it last? I was thinking is it his molars coming through, but im allowed nowhere near his mouth at the moment🤷🏻‍♀️

@Manda it really is hun & I hate having to try and make her actually eat. I feel so mean but I know she needs it too. She's been exactly the same hun and gagging which she'd totally outgrown! She won't try anything new & it's really tough! I feel like the wonder weeks developmental leap, the regressions and teething have all hit at once. It's god damn hard! Keeping fingers crossed for us both lovely xxx

@Sophie this gives me hope!!! Thank you for sharing hun xx

@Nicola i mean its sounds awful lovely and i dont mean it too 😂, but im so glad someone else is in the same position, because i was really worrying about it 😬 how many bottles does she have? Mine has morning and night and has around 7/8oz on both so i know hes at least having a drink 🤦‍♀️ive been googling it and it did mention a developmental leap and food strikes.. but then it was saying different illnesses so i stopped looking then before i become paranoid 😂xx

Hehehe @Manda I know exactly what you mean hun! It's so bloody hard when you see lots of "perfect" stuff on Instagram and Facebook isn't it. I've felt so overwhelmed this week and worried she's not getting enough food and drink! Definitely helps knowing that you're not alone 😘 So my LG only has one bottle now but she has 8oz-9oz just before bed. She was doing so, so well with this and was happy to not have milk in the morning as she couldn't fit both milk and brekkie became a challenge if she had milk before. However, the past 2 months have been so on and off and she's been waking for another bottle anywhere between 1am - 4:30am. I'm knackered lol! I've tried to let her resettle herself or just go in to cuddle her back to sleep but she gets so upset and beside herself. I'm truly hoping it's temporary. From 15-16 months we had days where she'd sleep through and I thought we were back on track but then we'd have another wake up and that'd continue again. It's been a massive rollercoaster!! Xxx

We have recently been through this, she was a fantastic eater then she got a cold and just went off her food would only want milk or yoghurt/weetabix...a few days in I noticed she was cutting a back tooth on either side and since then she's been on a good strike...seems a little better past few days but she's only eating because I'm feeding her and not because she wants it so mealtimes are a battle and have been for 2 weeks now, its so stressful

We were like this for about ten days and have just started having meals again

@Manda I think it was close to a week for us. We did notice that he liked cold food better so we had some moderate success with putting his meals in the fridge before offering them - I guess the cold might be comforting on their teeth?
