Pay increase back pay..

Does anyone know how much to expect as a band 5 re back pay? I’ve been on mat leave since March 2024… I’m hoping it’s decent but I’m also preparing for possibility that it’s next to nothing 🥲

I was on mat leave till July and I thought I would only get July till October back pay… not sure though

@Sarah no I don’t know what we get.. I assume nothing but we’ve also been on enhance occupational so assume we’d get the increase on that considering it’s based on our salary

You should get the increase based on what your mat pay would have been from April… so depending on how much full pay you had left and then the half pay amount

Well last time we had back dated pay , I went from 2k to 4k and I started mat leave end of July so I’m hoping I get at least 1k 😂

@Emma I split my between the time I was off so not sure what happens there

I am not sure if will get anything as I started maternity leave in December but really hopeful for something

You will get the extra 5.5% from April. So depends how much mat pay you got. I’m part time and Iv worked out my April back pay is £93, then they have recalculated my mat pay and works out £360 back pay. Then about an extra £50-70 a month from now on. I spilt my pay over 9 months x

@Lucy I was advised to only spread it across if I was going to take 12 months off 😩 I had full pay April and May, then the 50%+stat up until September. I’ll have to figure it out x

@Gemma why were you advised to only spread it over 12 months? I'm spreading mine over 42 weeks

@Gemma so if youv had all of your mat pay you will get a lump sum of 5.5% in October x

@Lucy Ul still get the lump sum if you’re in the middle of Your mat leave too

@Ali yes only from months youv already been paid for. My comment was to Gemma specifically as she’s had all her pay but still on mat leave x

@Lucy yea so I was full pay from April til August and then Mat from August onwards

@Ali I don’t understand sorry. So you haven’t spilt your omp? Just got it at 8 weeks and 16 weeks? If so you’ll receive a lump sum of 5.5% of your full omp. If you spilt it you will receive 5.5% of what youv already received then the rest of mat pay will be adjusted xx

@Lucy I’m lost haha I was just trying to figure out how much I would be getting I was still working up till end of July and then maternity pay started on August pay slip And I’m getting it split over 9 months

@Ali so you’ll get 5.5% of pay from April - July and then you’ll get 5.5% of what ever mat pay you have got aug and sept in a lump some then from October your mat pay will be the increased rate x

@Charley I was told that over the period I’d get paid less by spreading the pay if it were over less than 12 months.. they sent me the spreadsheet/breakdown of pay whether spread or paid per the policy and it did work out that I’d receive less if spread so I just went with the usual 8/16 x

@Gemma that's confusing. I wasn't given a breakdown like that but worked it out that I'd still receive the same amount of OMP over all just spread across the 44 weeks that I'm taking leave for. Just means I never drop down to SMP only or unpaid leave.

@Gemma that seems weird lol I’m on 10 months and I started off lower initially about 1500 after tax but come next month I’m on about 2k after tax till I go back to work in June

@Ali as a band 5? X

@Gemma yea top band 5

@Ali that seens a lot for an average.. I’m mid band 5 and don’t take that home when working 😂

@Gemma yea so on my forecast it’s 2.1k before tax , so by the the time it’s readjusted for the pay rise and then a small tax off it should be about 2k for months October to April

@Ali I’m still paying pension, tax, NI and student finance 🥴

@Gemma aw fair enough I opted out my pension while being off and I went to uni at the time nhs paid for fees so had no loans

@Ali that’s good. I didn’t know I could opt out during Mat leave!!

Not sure if this helps anyone but I was on Mat leave until July 2024, I had one month unpaid 10 months off in total and got a back Pay of £202 😫

I’m band 7
