Advice/positive birth stories for large babies??

I’m 31 weeks, 5’6” and about 170 lbs. My baby just had an ultrasound that puts him at 99th percentile 😱 my boyfriend was a big baby but he’s not a big guy, about 5’11”. I’m wondering if I’m just eating too much or if I have done anything to make my baby so big?? The Dr.s are trying to prepare me for the idea of a c-section while I really wanted to have a natural birth as this is my first baby. For more context, I am plant based and walk about 3-5 miles a day and tested negative for gestational diabetes. Any advice or positive birth stories about your 99 percentile babies? 🤗

Mine was 98th centile n came out pretty small, 7.14. Looking at the parents apparently gives a better indication. Our baby was also quite long n is still skinny- both of us are tall and I’m quite slim, husband average weight

My son measured big my entire pregnancy. They even wanted to change my due date at the 12 week appt but I did IVF so that didn't make sense 😂 I delivered at 39 weeks and he weighed 9lbs! Pre-pregnancy I weighed 130, I'm 5'4. My husband is 5'11. No reason to ever have thought we would have a big baby but it just happens. He is now 3 and has remained in the 99th percentile ever since-- is the size of a 5yro and taller/weighs more than his sister who is almost 5 🤯

The measurements during pregnancy are very much so subjective, and their guestmates get worse and worse the further along you are. They told my sister they had to induce asap cause my nephew was “going to be huge”…he came out at less then 6lbs. 🥴 That being said in late July I just gave birth to a 9lbs baby, I’m 5’2”, 140-170(it fluxes) pre pregnancy, and his dad is 5’11” and wide shouldered(just over all a big guy)…..the birth wasn’t any worse then my 2 who were 7-something pounds! 💖

My boy was 98 percentile the entire way through. I was tested twice for gestational diabetes which came back negative, I'm 5'8 and about 150 lb pre pregnancy. I really wanted to Birth naturally and had everyone on my side to do so. The best thing for birthing big babies is a positive, confident and happy mum. As long as you're doing what you want whilst taking into consideration professionals advice, then you're on the right track 😊 I went for a sweep at 37 weeks to help move things along and was already 2 cm dilated and 90% effaced! I went for two more sweeps and ended up going into labour the day after my third sweep I was in early labour for 48 hours and then my waters broke the day before 39 weeks. I was in active labour for 18 hours and gave birth to a 9 lb 3 baby naturally 😊 Like everyone said, measuring in pregnancy through scans is very unreliable. Mine just happened to be correct and I still had a great experience and no problems birthing a big baby. You've got this!

I had a successful VBAC with my son and he was 10lbs 3oz. It's definitely possible. I think they worry about their shoulders getting stuck if too big, but my son was fine.

Measurements are just a guide and are usually inconsistent later in pregnancy You got this!

The statistics of assumed baby size being the reason for a c section and how big the baby actually is once born is staggering- I don’t know the exact % but I remember because my baby was measuring big I looked it up and they’re wrong like 90% of the time and you could’ve just birthed it naturally. I would say unless it’s a solid 11 or 12 pounds they are measuring I wouldn’t do a c section but that’s just me
