Why are my readings so inconsistent?!

I was advised that porridge is a good breakfast for GD (by the dietician) and also told fruit wise raspberries are good. So yesterday (with my fasting at 4.8) I had porridge with raspberries mixed in and afterwards my sugars were 6.6. I had the exact same fasting number this morning and the exact same breakfast and my reading was 9.1!!! Like what the hell?!?! I didn’t sleep any better or worse than normal, and can’t think of any other variables. I’m totally baffled how it can’t have jumped so much. Also for context, the night before my ‘good reading’ my after tea reading was high, yet last night after tea my reading was in range at 6.9 so it’s not that that has affected the following morning either. The porridge is also a sachet so a measured amount

I think it's about what works for you. Personally, I couldn't touch porridge. Or any cereal. Trial and error for what works in the first week or so of diagnosis

@Jess it was fine yesterday, just not today 😂

And diagnoses wise it’s been about 6 weeks hun

Something similar has happened to me before, homemade lasagna completely fine, had it again really high. I think it's all to do with hormones on the day/hormone surges/hydration etc. One high reading isn't the end of the world, I was told they look at the results over time so consistent high readings would be an issue x

Hydration and how active you were after eating can really affect numbers too.
