Weight gain

Hi girls. I was 10st 6 when I first got weighed at 13 weeks and now I’m 28 weeks and weighing 13st 3. Is this healthy weight gain? I feel really insecure and feel like that’s a lot and worried it is gonna be hard to lose once babies here

Everyone’s body has different reactions to all the hormonal changes we go through! Speak to your midwife if you’re really worried and try adding 10/15 mins of walking daily to manage the hormones, but a lot of this is down to genetics unfortunately! Focus on feeling healthy and not the scale - once baby is here you can see what’s safe for you to do if you want to, but can’t shift some weight.

I put on 3 and a half stone in my first pregnancy. I lost 2 stone within 2 weeks of my little boy being born and another almost 2 stone over the following months with sensible workouts and eating (and breastfeeding!), nothing crazy! This time I’ve put on just over 2 stone so far but no doubt I’ll be another stone heavier by 40 weeks. I’m not worried at all, I’ve had 2 healthy pregnancies and didn’t struggle with the weight loss last time. Try not to let it bother you as for the most part, it’s completely out of our control x

I put on 2.5 stone on my first pregnancy. This time round, I'm 30 weeeks and only put on 10lbs. Just try have a healthy balance of eating, moving etc and it should be fine. If your sat not moving and eating cake all day, you know it's going to be an issue 😂. I have gestational diabetes in my second pregnancy too so means I have to be strict with diet which is annoying but is definitely impacting weight gain.

I was 9 stone 3 at the start , I put on 7/8 lb just in the first few weeks! I lived of carbs to help the sickness 😅😅 I'm now 10 stone 13 which is the heaviest I've ever been and obviously have around 9 weeks left. This is however my 4th baby and I've come to learn there's more.to life than worrying about weight gain in pregnancy you really will be suprised how quickly it will all fall off. Loads.of it is baby,.placenta water etc, plus our bodies increase blood volume do that adds weight, boobs grow and weigh more ( I'm sure mine are a stone on their own! ) so along as your eating healthy and keeping moving, I wouldnt worry too much x

Do not worry, everyone’s body is different! But you gain weight in pregnancy for lots of different reasons: the baby itself around 3kg, uterus 1kg, amniotic fluid 1kg, placenta 700g, bigger boobs around 2kg, blood and fluid volume increases 2kg, your body stores extra fat to prepare for growing and feeding your baby which can be around 3kg. These are speaking generally but I was quite interested to learn the breakdown to understand my body a bit more
